Elizabeth Carpenter has been hired as Cayce’s new assistant to the city manager, the city of Cayce announced in a news release Thursday, Oct. 1.
As assistant to the city manager, Carpenter will help support the city’s day-to-day operations and long-term priorities while working with city departments, community members, elected officials and other stakeholders. The position serves as a key support role within the city manager’s office, helping move projects forward, coordinate information and resources and ensure that organizational goals are effectively implemented.
A South Carolina native, Carpenter brings a background in facilitation, strategic planning, research, organizational development and community engagement to the city of Cayce. Most recently, Carpenter served as a facilitator and trainer with Iron Sharpens Iron Consulting in Chapin, where she designed and facilitated strategic planning sessions, board meetings and retreats for diverse stakeholder groups.
“Having spent the beginning of my career in facilitation, I believe wholeheartedly in the value of inclusive participation and empowering individuals to advocate for themselves,” Carpenter said in the release. “Community engagement is a passion of mine, and I look forward to bringing that passion to my new role with the city of Cayce.”
A longtime lover of the arts, Carpenter said she’s also excited to be involved in Cayce’s growing arts and cultural initiatives. Carpenter began her new position with the city of Cayce on Sept. 24.
