Cayce local named National Champion and Angler of the Year

Andy Wicker of Cayce took home the title of National Champion and Angler of the Year following the American Bass Anglers (ABA) 2024 American Fishing Tour National Championship on Lake Murray.

Wicker won the title after three days of fishing with a final tournament weight of 71.64 pounds and reeling in the tournament's big fish that weighed approximately 6.84 pounds, the release read.

Wicker also received a new Caymas boat, which is powered by a Mercury Marine outboard equipped with T-H Marine components.

This year’s championship marked the 24th anniversary. The tournament was presented by Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board, and it attracted anglers from 20 states. Some states represented were Ohio, Illinois, Kansas and New York.

Joshua Reenebaum, of Chapin, got fourth place in the Angler of the Year competition. His final tournament weight was 65.26 pounds.
