An individual wanted in connection with a Cayce homicide that happened in 2021 has been arrested.

According to the City of Cayce Police Department, Alberto Osorio Mendoza, the individual taken into custody and charged, had repeatedly attempted to evade law enforcement since the murder.

Investigators stated that on June 14, 2021, Cayce Police officers responded to the area of Groover Circle at Westwood Mobile Home Park after receiving a report of a suspicious car with a man slumped over the steering wheel.

When officers arrived, they found the male deceased from a gunshot wound to the head.

The investigation found that Mendoza and the victim had been together earlier that evening when an altercation occurred. The victim was shot, and Mendoza fled the scene, investigators say.

The release also said that Mendoza had used multiple aliases to avoid being caught.

On Dec. 1, 2025, the North Charleston Police Department received a tip that led to Mendoza’s location. The United States Marshals Service assisted with locating and arresting Mendoza, who was found using an alias at the time of his arrest.

Mendoza was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center, where he was denied bond on the charge of murder.
