Centerville Elementary School has announced Lauren Vann as its new principal, bringing more than a decade of experience to the role.
Vann’s appointment was officially approved by the Lexington County School District One board during a recent meeting earlier this month.
“Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement, teacher development and creating a positive, supportive school culture,” the press release said.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Vann holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Education in educational administration.
Before entering administration, she taught fourth and fifth grade while serving as a team leader, mentor and facilitator of professional learning for new teachers. She also earned additional endorsements in gifted and talented education, Read to Succeed and the Michelin Better Way Forward.
In addition to classroom instruction, Vann worked as a math interventionist and instructional coach. She later served as an assistant principal at both Red Bank Elementary, where she was Teacher of the Year during the 2015-16 school year, and Saxe Gotha Elementary.
Outside of the school, her work has been featured in The Palmetto Administrator journal and presented at national and state conferences, including iNACOL and the SCASA Innovative Ideas.
Vann is also a certified South Carolina SCTS 4.0 evaluator, a trained mentor and serves as a Critical Friends Group coach through the National School Reform Faculty.
Centerville Elementary, located at 4147 Augusta Highway in Gilbert, is guided by a mission to “nurture our students’ curiosity, creativity and aspirations."
"We believe that our students will design the future, and we are here to provide them with a caring community where they can learn to collaborate, communicate and create freely," the mission reads. "We empower all of our students to learn at high levels and are committed to ensuring that each one of our students reach those levels.”
