Coffee and cream punch perfect for fall, winter

Posted

This is a decadent and special occasion treat that is perfect for fall and winter.

With the popularity of coffee in just about every form and on just about every corner, this can be enjoyed by every generation of your family and friends.

I make this using a small punch bowl (one that will hold 8 cups). This serves 8-10 people.

To begin, you will want to make an ice ring for the punch bowl. This is super simple.  Use your Bundt pan; if you don't have one, any metal pan a little smaller than the bowl you plan to use to serve will do.

Fill this pan about halfway with your favorite coffee.  For a more intense flavor, dissolve 3 TBSP instant espresso powder into the coffee before adding.

Freeze overnight.

To make the “punch” —

Mix 6 cups of the coffee of your choice with 2 cups of heavy cream and one cup of sugar.  Dissolve fully and allow to cool.

Once cooled, place in a pitcher in your fridge and allow to chill for a few hours.

Now comes the fun part!

After placing the chilled coffee and cream mixture into your punch bowl, add 2 cups of ice cream cut into slabs or scooped into chunks — do not worry about being exact, as the ice cream will melt as intended.

Once you have all of the liquid and ice cream in the bowl, remove the ice ring from the freezer and place it on top.

Let the mixture sit about 15 minutes , undisturbed (do not stir) so the flavors begin to trickle together.

Stir the punch just before serving; it will get more and more flavorful as everything begins to melt together.

Serve in small, handled punch cups using a silver punch ladle.

This is incredibly delicious.  If there is anything left over, (there likely won't be), refrigerate and serve again the next day; it is really good over ice.

This simple yet decadent treat is one that will be long remembered by all who try it.
