Crystal Bouknight is the new town manager for South Congaree, leaving her previous role as city clerk for West Columbia. Her first day was Monday, June 9.

Bouknight worked with the City of West Columbia for eight years and previously spent 12 years in the administrative office of Northside Middle School in Lexington County School District Two.

She received an associate's in applied science-human services with honors from Midlands Technical College. She is also a 2021 and 2023 graduate of the Advanced Local Government Leadership Institute, earned certification in 2020 from the MASC Clerk and Treasurer’s Institute and received a certified municipal clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks that same year.

West Columbia City Manager Brian Carter shared that Bouknight is moving into a position with more responsibility. During her time with the City of West Columbia, she earned several promotions, including administrative executive assistant, administrative supervisor and city clerk.
