After an aircraft became disabled on a runway at Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) last week, flights could not take off or land for nearly two hours. No injuries were reported and the cause of the aircraft becoming disabled is not known at this time.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at approximately 1:33 p.m., a small aircraft paused operations at CAE. The main runway was shut down after the aircraft became disabled following its landing. According to a statement from the airport, no injuries occurred.

CAE then released a statement indicating that as of 3:45 p.m. that same day, the disabled aircraft was removed from the runway and flight operations could resume as normal.

At this time, there is no additional information from CAE as to the cause of the aircraft becoming disabled.
