Lexington County’s final two undefeated teams stayed that way after last week’s slate of games.
Dutch Fork and Northside Christian are a combined (9-0) this season and are winning dominantly. The Silver Foxes won their fourth game of the season after beating Sumter 55-26. Northside is (5-0) after beating region rival Spartanburg Christian 55-38.
The Silver Foxes' title defense has gotten off to a great start as the team won all four of its games by at least three touchdowns.
Dutch Fork and Sumter were forced to wait out a long delay as lightning sat over the area for hours. When the game finally resumed after 11 p.m., the Silver Foxes came out with a lead and kept their foot on the gas.
Quarterback Jaxon Knotts was excellent, gaining over 400 yards of total offense and scoring six touchdowns.
Northside quarterback B.J. Suits also had a big game, scoring multiple touchdowns in their win.
The Crusaders are in the midst of a strong turnaround from last season. Northside went (3-8) in 2025 and didn’t win a single region game. The team is already (2-0) in region meetings this season with three more to go.
It’s the school’s first (5-0) start in program history.
The margin for error is about to get a lot smaller for teams as the region season is about to begin.
Succeeding in the region is critical to a team’s postseason chances. The higher a team finishes in the conference, the better seed and more favorable first-round matchup it receives.
This season sees every classification have at least one Lexington County team.
Chapin, Dutch Fork, Lexington, River Bluff and White Knoll are in one 5A conference. Gray Collegiate is also a 5A school, playing in a region with teams like Ridge View and Blythewood.
Irmo is the area’s only 4A school, as Airport Brookland-Cayce and Gilbert were bumped down into a 3A conference with Swansea.
American Leadership and Pelion are in the same 2A conference, and Batesburg-Leesville is the local 1A team. Northside Christian is the only SCISA team.
Most teams will have one more non-region game to tune things up, and then it’s full steam ahead. However, a few will start this week, giving those teams no more room for mistakes.
Brayden Cress caught three touchdown passes as White Knoll got its first win of the season.
Jaylen Brost rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns in Gilbert’s win versus Batesburg-Leesville.
Caleb Pinkney rushed for two touchdowns as River Bluff beat Keenan.
Easton Crocker put the go-ahead touchdown on the board as Lexington beat Emerald.
