Flanked by his parents, Kama (left) and Chris Staton (right), Brookland-Cayce Quarterback Tanner Staton signed to play football on the college level at Elon. A signing ceremony was held on the Brookland-Cayce campus. Staton was a 3-year varsity starter for the Bearcats. He threw for 5,336 yards and rushed for 1,544 yards in his high school career. He also passed for 48 touchdowns and rushed for 26 TDs. He completed 333-494 attempts, earned All-Region recognition and he was named the Region 5-3A Player of the Year as a junior. He was also named the 2022 Touchstone Energy North/South All-Star Bowl Offensive MVP for the South team.

All-State high school football talent from Chronicle Country schools Dutch Fork, Brookland-Cayce and Airport signed letters of intent for college scholarships on Dec. 21.
