A former Springdale police officer, David Sean Jordan, 51, has been charged with misconduct in office and third-degree assault and battery, according to a Tuesday, April 22, release.
According to the arrest warrant, while Jordan was employed as an officer in November 2024, he used excessive force against an individual who was already detained in handcuffs. The excessive force included a chokehold and resulted in an injury.
Jordan was also charged with misconduct in office, malfeasance, misfeasance or nonfeasance. This was “in breach of his duties to the public, including his duties of good faith, honesty, and accountability.”
The Springdale Police Department requested the SLED investigation and Jordan was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
