The 2024 Crime in South Carolina Annual Report was released this month from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, detailing crime statistics reported by law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

According to the report, there are 279 active law enforcement agencies in the state; 37 agencies are not compliant with the South Carolina Incident-Based Reporting System, meaning that the 37 agencies are missing one or more 2024 SCIBRS submissions. This may impact the data in the report. Midlands Technical College Police Department, Atlantic Railroads Police Department and Lexington State Transport Police appear to be the only agencies with ties to Lexington County included in those 37 non-compliant agencies.

According to the data, Lexington County had 12 murder cases, 839 aggravated assault cases, 22 arson cases, 827 breaking and entering cases, 71 robbery cases, 699 motor-vehicle theft cases, 4,381 larceny cases and 94 sexual battery cases in 2024.

In 2023, Lexington County agencies recorded 19 murder cases, 850 aggravated assault cases, 28 arson cases, 980 breaking and entering cases, 84 robbery cases, 773 motor-vehicle theft cases, 4,865 larceny cases and 116 sexual battery cases.

In 2024, South Carolina as a whole recorded 413 murder cases, 19,710 aggravated assault cases, 597 arson cases, 15,087 breaking and entering cases, 1,949 robbery cases, 12,180 motor-vehicle theft cases, 82,736 larceny cases and 2,092 sexual battery cases.

Batesburg-Leesville Police Department

In 2024, the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department reported 36 aggravated assaults, eight breaking and entering cases, one robbery, six motor-vehicle thefts, 136 larcenies and four sexual battery cases. No murders or arsons recorded.

Cayce Police Department

In 2024, the Cayce Police Department recorded one murder, 90 aggravated assaults, zero arsons, 54 breaking and entering cases, six robberies, 66 motor-vehicle thefts, 263 larcenies, and three sexual battery cases.

Chapin Police Department

In 2024, the Chapin Police Department reported no murders, seven aggravated assaults, no arsons, two breaking and entering cases, no robberies, one motor-vehicle theft case, 21 larcenies and one sexual battery case.

Gaston Police Department

In 2024, the Gaston Police Department recorded no murders, four aggravated assaults, no arsons, 10 breaking and entering cases, one robbery, seven motor-vehicle thefts, 38 larcenies and one sexual battery case.

Irmo Police Department

In 2024, the Irmo Police Department reported no murders, 22 aggravated assaults, no arsons, 15 breaking and entering cases, four robberies, 15 motor-vehicle thefts, 154 larcenies and three sexual battery cases.

Lexington Medical Center Police

In 2024, Lexington Medical Center reported two motor-vehicle thefts and 28 larceny cases.

Lexington Police Department

In 2024, the Lexington Police Department recorded no murders, 28 aggravated assaults, 1 arson, 25 breaking and entering cases, no robberies, 27 motor-vehicle thefts, 352 larcenies and two sexual battery cases.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department

In 2024, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office reported seven murders, 517 aggravated assaults, 19 arsons, 625 breaking and entering cases, 38 robberies, 486 motor-vehicle thefts, 2,496 larcenies and 70 sexual battery cases.

Pelion Police Department

In 2024, Pelion Police Department reported no murders, four aggravated assaults, no arsons, one breaking and entering case, one robbery, four motor-vehicle thefts, 38 larcenies and no sexual batteries.

Pine Ridge Police Department

In 2024, the Pine Ridge Police Department reported no murders, one aggravated assault, no arsons, four breaking and entering cases, no robberies, four motor-vehicle thefts, 16 larcenies and no sexual battery cases.

South Congaree Police Department

In 2024, the South Congaree Police Department documented no murders, one aggravated assault case, no arsons, four breaking and entering cases, four robberies, two motor-vehicle thefts, 35 larcenies and no sexual battery cases.

Springdale Police Department

In 2024, the Springdale Police Department reported no murders, 13 aggravated assaults, no arsons, 4 breaking and entering cases, one robbery, eight motor-vehicle thefts, 62 larcenies and one sexual battery case.

Swansea Police Department

In 2024, the Swansea Police Department reported one murder, two aggravated assaults, no arsons, one breaking and entering case, one robbery, no motor-vehicle thefts, 32 larcenies and no sexual battery cases.

West Columbia Police Department

In 2024, the West Columbia Police Department reported three murders, 113 aggravated assaults, two arsons, 72 breaking and entering cases, 14 robberies, 67 motor-vehicle thefts, 691 larcenies and nine sexual batteries.
