Brittany Rosalinda Valencia, 16, an Irmo High School student, was killed in a vehicle collision on Dec. 9.

The collision happened at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday night, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, on St. Andrews Road in Columbia near Seven Oaks Park.

Valencia was the passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on St. Andrews Road when it collided with a vehicle traveling westbound. She was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a GoFundMe started by her sister, Natalie, Brittany wanted to go to the University of South Carolina to become an OBGYN.

"She had dreams, goals, and was one of the hardest working people I know," Natalie wrote in the GoFundMe desctiption. "Unexpectedly, Monday night, Brittany was taken away from us in a car accident. We want to give her the best arrangements possible. Any and all donations would be GREATLY appreciated and will go directly toward laying our sweet Brittany to rest. Service date, to be determined. Thank you and God bless."
