Lacrosse playoffs start for 10 Lexington County teams

Posted

The high school lacrosse playoffs are here, and 10 Lexington County teams have their sights set on winning a state championship.

Games started Monday of this week, with four local teams taking the field. Two more play on Tuesday. Four had a first-round bye.

Region champions Chapin and Lexington were two of the teams with byes.

Chapin’s boys finished the regular season (13-3) overall and (6-0) in the district. The Eagles come into the playoffs riding a five-game winning streak.

The team will begin its postseason journey on Saturday against St. James. The Sharks are coming off a first-round win over White Knoll.

Chapin advanced to the state semifinal in 2025 before being eliminated by the eventual champions from Lucy Beckham.

Lexington’s girls are the defending state champions and earned a first-round bye.

Despite being the reigning champs, this Lexington team is relying on a ton of new experience after losing nine seniors.

The Wildcats put together a great regular season, going (14-2) in 2026 and finishing conference play undefeated, with a (7-0) record.

Lexington will play its first game in the second round on Friday. The team will host Wando.

Monday’s first round saw three games featuring at least one Lexington County team.

River Bluff’s and Dutch Fork’s girls went head-to-head in a clash between region mates. White Knoll’s boys hit the road for a game against St. James, and Gilbert’s boys hosted Hilton Head in the 4A bracket.

Lexington’s and James Island’s boys play on Tuesday with a spot in the second round against Carolina Forest on the line.

White Knoll and Socastee’s girls also played Tuesday for the right to travel to Chapin in the second round.

The high school lacrosse playoffs will run for two weeks, with the championship games taking place from May 8-9 at Irmo High School.
