Lake Murray Golf Center to reopen

Posted

The Lake Murray Golf Center has new owners, and plans are in place to reopen the property.

Located in Chapin (2032 Old Hilton Rd.), the 33-acre property was sold to CB Bros Holdings, LLC and Benjamin Hooker. Hooker, a Chapin native, is a local entrepreneur and owner of BOHO Pizza and Brew in Lexington, across from Lexington High School.

While the Lake Murray Golf Center has been closed since November 2021, Hooker has a refreshed vision for the property, according to a press release. He plans to reopen the golf center in three different phases. Phase one will include reopening the driving range and “shack” with a limited food and beverage menu. Phase two will include reopening the nine-hole par-three course and 18-hole putt-putt course. Phase three will include the development of a full-service restaurant that will offer food, live music and community-style events.

While the golf center will open under its original name of the Lake Murray Golf Center, a full rebranding of the company and its name is expected to launch later this year. Featuring a new name and logo, the rebranding will echo the golf-focused atmosphere and family-friendly appeal the revitalized property will offer, according to the release.

“We are so thrilled about the re-opening of the Lake Murray Golf Center and know that this is something the community is really going to get excited about,” DeWees said in a statement.
