Raheem Smith, 33, was arrested last week and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes.
Lexington County deputies say he attempted to run over a child with his car.
“Detectives recovered footage from a doorbell camera of Smith trying to run over a child after they got out of Smith’s car,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a release. “The child was able to avoid being hit.”
The child ran inside and Smith is alleged to have removed the camera doorbell from a front door in an attempt to obscure evidence of the crime.
“Deputies also found Smith to be [in] possession of a firearm,” Koon said. “He was previously convicted of a felony that carries a maximum penalty of more than one year in prison.”
