A CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to arrest a West Columbia man on multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor.
Kenneth Lenard Norton, 40, was arrested by Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department on Dec. 22.
According to investigators, Norton is accused of possessing and distributing files containing child sexual abuse material. He has been charged with three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Each felony charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
