Ivy Tyrone Richardson Jr., 54, of Gaston, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for two counts of assault and battery of a high aggravated nature and discharging a firearm in a vehicle.

On Aug. 22, 2024, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting. When deputies arrived, they discovered several victims near a residence off Lorick Village Road.

The victims told officers the shooter was a man they knew as Tyrone and shortly after they found Richardson in the woods behind the property. When deputies encountered Richardson, he directed them to the weapon, an AR-15 style rifle that was still loaded.

After investigating the incident, deputies found that Richardson was prohibited from being on the property at the time of the shooting. Law enforcement also discovered that Richardson waited for the victims near the front yard.

Once the victims arrived home, Richardson opened fire and CSI found 15 shell casings at the scene.

According to the press release, Richardson has prior convictions such as possession with intent to distribute cocaine, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.

Circuit Court Judge William P. Keesley sentenced Richardson following a four-day jury trial.

Richardson will not be eligible for parole and has been transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
