Posted

The efforts of Brock Vradenburg to keep the Lexington County Blowfish's playoff hopes afloat were rewarded Monday.

The Coastal Plain League named the Michigan State first baseman as one of its Players of the Week. Vradenburg is the first Blowfish to receive the award this season and shared it with Holly Springs' pitcher Leo Giannoni.

In seven games, Vradenburg finished with a .500 average. He led the league in hits (14), home runs (3), runs (9) and RBIs (19) and added three doubles and a triple.

Vradenburg also walked seven times and sported a 1.000 slugging percentage, a .600 on-base percentage and an impressive 1.600 on-base percentage. For the season, he leads the Blowfish with 47 hits and 35 walks.

Lexington County closes out the regular season with five straight games, four at home. The Blowfish play host to High Point-Thomasville at 7:05 p.m. July 26 for the final "Dog Day Tuesday" as fans can bring their favorite canines for free.
