Lexington County’s Pine Street bridge near CAE to close for repairs; detours to start Jan. 26

Posted

The Pine Street bridge over Congaree Creek in the South Congaree area of Lexington County, not far from Columbia Metropolitan Airport, will be closed later this month to allow for bridge repairs.

The closure is scheduled to begin on Jan. 26, with the bridge expected to reopen on Feb. 6, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

During the construction period, SCDOT has established a detour route. According to the provided map, the detour involves taking Edmund Highway, Main Street, State Road S-32-72 (which connects to Old Dunbar Road) and East Steele Road.

Pine Street will remain accessible to local traffic only, except at the bridge, the media release said, so Gerrie Lane and Skyview Drive would still be accessible from Pine Street if drivers are coming from East Steele Road.
