A Lexington County man has been arrested on  five charges  after a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy was ran over by a car.

Chief Terrance Green announced the arrest of Antwan Martel Jeter, 36, of Cayce  on Oct. 8.

Jeter arrived at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department to complete his registration as a sex offender, according to the press release. It was then discovered that Jeter had a warrant out for his arrest. When deputies approached, Jeter ran to a car trying to escape custody. Antwan backed up the car and a deputy was ran over.  Jeter fled the parking lot.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy that was ran over has been hospitalized, and is believed to have non life-threatening injuries.

The Lexington Police Department and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department began to look up addresses that Jeter was known to be at.

Jeter was found at a family member’s home on Allaire Court South in Blythewood. He was taken into custody by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Jeter has been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, assault on a law enforcement officer while resisting arrest, hit and run with great bodily injury and malicious injury to property.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department may add additional charges.

Lexington County court records show that Jeter has a 2021 second degree domestic violence charge of which he pled guilty to. Records also show that he has a 2018 resisting arrest charge to which he pled guilty to. Records also show he has a pending driving under the influence charge from 2022.
