Lexington man dies in moped accident May 21

Michael Bailey Vines, 69, of Lexington, has been identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as the man who died in a moped accident on May 21.

The accident happened on South Lake Drive at about 9:45 a.m.

Vines was driving westbound on South Lake Drive when he left the right side of the road and was ejected off of the moped.

“Mr. Vines, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead,” according to the release.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
