Lexington Medical Center recently received an “A” hospital safety rating from the Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade focuses on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States, the press release read.
Leapfrog gives hospitals an A, B, C, D or F based on errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Lexington Medical Center is constantly striving to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients,” said Tod Augsburger, president and CEO. “Hospital safety is a top priority, and I’m glad that our doctors, nurses and staff can be recognized for their efforts as we work to meet the health care needs of our friends, families and neighbors in the Midlands.”
Leah Binder, president and CEO of the Leapfrog Group, expressed how dedicated Lexington Medical Center is to patient safety.
“I extend my congratulations to Lexington Medical Center, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first,’’ she said.
