Lexington Medical Center has been recognized as a 2025 High Performing hospital for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report. The designation highlights the hospital’s excellence in maternity services and patient care.
“We are proud of the outstanding maternity care we provide to meet the needs of our communities,” said Tod Augsburger, president and CEO, according to a press release. “As the only hospital in the Midlands to receive this recognition, it shows the commitment of our exceptional physicians, nurses and staff to providing the best patient care possible for our friends, families and neighbors.”
U.S. News & World Report evaluated 817 hospitals nationwide, with only half being recognized as the best hospitals for maternity care. The evaluation considered factors such as severe unexpected newborn complications, birthing-friendly practices and efforts to address racial and ethnic disparities in care.
Dr. Jennifer Winston, a health data scientist in the U.S. News & World, noted that the recognized hospitals demonstrated exceptional care, including lower rates of C-sections and severe newborn complications.
