Lexington-Richland 5 announces new interim principal

Reed Gunter has been named the new interim principal at Dutch Fork High School. Gunter is taking over for Gerald Gary who has been named the district chief operations officer.

“Mr. Gunter’s leadership experience and understanding of Dutch Fork High School make him the perfect candidate for this important role,” chief of academics Tina McCaskill said in a press release. “I appreciate his willingness to step into this position with energy and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing Dutch Fork High School continue to thrive under his leadership.”

Gunter has a bachelor’s degree in middle level education from the University of South Carolina and holds a master’s degree in education administration from the University of South Carolina.

He received a second master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College.

Gunter is currently an assistant principal at Dutch Fork High. Prior to that he was an assistant principal at Dutch Fork Middle School. Gunter was also a middle school ELA teacher and coached varsity lacrosse and C-team football.

Gunter expressed his gratitude for his new role at Dutch Fork. “Dutch Fork High School excels in academics, athletics and the arts and I'm excited to lead us to continuing success. I have a deep love and commitment for this community and I look forward to partnering with staff, students and families to grow our students."
