Lexington-Richland 5 introduces new educator incentive

Posted

Lexington-Richland District Five has introduced a new incentive for new educators joining their team. This initiative, called the new educator retention incentive, offers new educators with up to two years of prior teaching experience a $2,500 bonus for up to three full schools years.

This incentive can be paid in two different ways. One option is direct payment, where the educator receives $1,000 during the first semester and $1,500 during the second semester. Alternatively, the incentive can be used to reduce student loan debt, with the district paying the full $2,5000 directly to the educator’s qualifying student loan.

Recently, the district hosted a hiring event where prospective educators could meet with administrators, district officials and staff to discuss qualifications and prepare for on-site interviews.

According to the Lexington-Richland Five website, available positions include administration vacancies, 29 athletics/activities, eight elementary school teaching positions, 15 high school teaching positions, seven middle school teaching positions, five special education teaching roles, six student support services positions, 29 support staff positions.

Incentives can motivate educators by rewarding good performance, encouraging ongoing hard work and attracting qualified teachers for needed positions.
