The Lexington Wildcats boys soccer team continued their long-running annual Cats Kick Cancer tournament this weekend.
Day Two started with a check presentation prior to defeating Summerville 5-1 at Wildcat Stadium.
This year’s $3,500 check was presented before the opening game of the tournament by Lexington head coach Will Gettys and District 1 athletic director David Bennett to the foundation’s representative.
Cats Kick Cancer raises money designated for students and families in Lexington District One who are fighting cancer. Funds are distributed through the Lexington 1 Education Foundation to assist with expenses incurred during treatments, from hospital bills to household needs.
As for the game, the Wildcats opened their matchup with Summerville by scoring quickly, as Franklin Spires put a free kick into the goal at the 36:25 mark of the first half.
Summerville answered soon after to tie the game, but that was its final score.
The Wildcats notched two more goals in the first half, with Kenny Kwizera scoring at the 20:02 mark and Ayden Tressel adding a third goal with an assist from Spires at 16:49.
In the second half, the Wildcats dominated on offense, keeping the ball in play on the offensive side of the field and adding two more goals for the win.
In other scores, West Florence and North Augusta played to a 1-1 tie and Cardinal Newman defeated Fort Dorchester 3-1.

Noon – North Augusta vs. Summerville
2 p.m. – Fort Dorchester vs. West Florence
3:30 p.m. – South Aiken vs. Lexington
