Families in the Town of Lexington can now see the town through the eyes of Lexington Town Councilmember Gavin Smith’s dog, Braxton.
Last year, Smith released his first coloring book, allowing local kids to color pictures depicting areas of the town, such as Gibson Pond Park.
This year’s edition is titled, "Braxton's Big Day in Lexington: A Town of Lexington Coloring Book.”
"Last year's coloring book was such a fun way to connect with families in our community," Smith said in a press release. "Seeing so many children enjoying it inspired me to try and make it even more special this year. By adding Braxton, my best little bud, and turning it into a story, I hope kids feel like they're going on an adventure while discovering many of the people and places that make Lexington such a wonderful place to live."
There are over two dozen pages to color and a story in which Braxton is the main character “as he spends the day discovering some of Lexington's favorite parks, restaurants, businesses, landmarks, and community gathering places.”
Like last year, there is a contest. “Children can submit their completed coloring pages for a chance to win one of four $25 Big Air Lexington gift cards.”
The deadline to enter is noon on Aug. 31, 2026, and winners will be drawn on Sept. 1, 2026.
Smith’s release said he personally funded the book and that Pine Press of Lexington donated the printing of physical copies. “No taxpayer dollars were used to create or distribute the project.”
While supplies last, physical copies are available, or you can print it yourself using the link available at facebook.com/GavinSmithSC.
