The Lexington Post 7 and West Columbia Post 79 baseball teams were in action against each other last week. The pair were off to strong league starts and sit in the top half of the standings.
West Columbia and Lexington split their series, going 1-1-1 in their three games. Game one was a West Columbia win at Lexington, game two ended in a draw after weather cut the game short and game three was a Lexington win at home.
The season series was huge for the cross-county rivals, who are trying to chase down Richland for the top spot. Chapin/Newberry and Winnsborro are the league’s bottom two teams and are winless in league play this season.
There are just three weeks left of regular-season ball before playoffs begin. The three Lexington County teams will look to end the year by adding more league wins and testing themselves against non-league competition.
Lexington and Chapin/Newberry will play their three-game series this week. West Columbia plays Winnsboro.
