Locals will soon have more paved parking spaces to access the Old Mill from.
Work began on Monday, June 2, to provide 73 paved parking spaces at the bottom of the Old Mill dam in Lexington. The construction will also provide a pathway to the Old Mill Pond Trail, and is expected to be completed around the beginning of September 2025.
This area, located at 711 E. Main St., is now closed while construction is underway, but there is still parking at the top of the Old Mill near Old Mill Brewpub, and there is still the gravel lot with access to the trail on South Lake Drive, a roughly five-minute walk from Second Wave Coffee and More.
Mayor Hazel Livingston said during the June 2 town council meeting that this revitalization is just one part of the town’s Vision Plan, the same plan that made the Icehouse Amphitheater, Lexington Paw Park, Old Mill Pond Trail and Virginia Hylton Park what they are today.
