Dutch Fork's softball team is moving on to the next round.
The Silver Foxes defeated Wade Hampton 5-1 in an elimination game Friday night. Each team entered the contest with a previous postseason loss, meaning the loser's season would be over.
Dutch Fork broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning after Haley Alderman hit a ball to left field, scoring three runs. The Silver Foxes extended their lead when Alderman stole home following a wild pitch.
Layla Peppers pitched the entire game for the Silver Foxes. She had four strikeouts while giving up just three hits, one run and no walks.
Dutch Fork's win keeps the team's season alive. The Silver Foxes are one of four teams left in their district bracket and will have to win out to avoid elimination before the upper state series.
Dutch Fork's next game will be on the road against a familiar foe. Lexington's loss to Dorman will put the Wildcats against the Silver Foxes for the third time this season.
Lexington won both of the previous matchups, 16-1 and 17-5.
The Silver Foxes and Wildcats will face off Monday at 6 p.m. in a game where the winner advances to the district championship, and the loser goes home.
