Platt Springs Crossing, a $65 million development in the Red Bank area of Lexington County that will include townhomes, retail and more, is expected to be completed in 2026.

“Located between 5400 and 5470 Platt Springs Road, the development features a 51,000 square-foot Lowes Foods grocery store, which will serve as the anchor tenant. Additionally, the development will include 10,000 square feet of retail space next to Lowes Foods and an 8,400 square-foot outparcel dedicated to medical-related retail,” an Aug. 19, 2024, media release said.

Launched by Lexington Land Development Company in partnership with NAI (a group of commercial property brokerage and management firms), the 57-acre development began construction in the summer of 2023.

Businesses including Chipotle, Whataburger and Panda Express are already operating, while Planet Fitness, Heartland Dental, Prisma Urgent Care and Big Blue Marble Academy are slated for construction.  Lowes Foods construction is almost complete and set to open later this year.

In addition to new retail and restaurants, about 142 new townhomes are under construction, with some expected to be available by the end of the summer.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau,  in 2023, Lexington County's population was 313,000.

Red Bank’s population in 2023 was 10,950. A slight uptick from 2010 when the population was 9,617; it was 8,811 in 2000.
