Sheriff’s department, community members plan ‘National Night Out’ events

Posted

Communities across Lexington County will join the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in celebrating National Night Out on Aug. 4, with more neighborhood events planned throughout the summer.

The annual campaign brings law enforcement officers and residents together to strengthen neighborhood spirit, enhance police-community partnerships and build safer communities. Participating neighborhoods across the county will host block parties, cookouts, safety demonstrations and youth activities.

"National Night Out gives our LCSD team a chance to meet your family and neighbors," Sheriff Jay Koon said in a news release. "Together, we can make Lexington County a safer place to live and work."

Local events kick off July 31 at the Pelion Performing Arts Center from 5-8 p.m.

On Aug. 4, several neighborhood events are scheduled:

  • River Oaks Apartments: 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Autumn Woods West, Lake Francis and Planter’s Station: 6-8 p.m.
  • Ivy Link, Stratton Place and Swansea Park: 6-7 p.m.
  • The Rapids: 6:30 to 8 p.m.
  • Night Harbor: 7-8 p.m.

More community gatherings are planned in Batesburg-Leesville, Starview and Shull Island through late September.
