Master Gardeners at Swansea Branch Library
On Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Swansea Branch Library, located at 199 N. Lawrence Ave., you can perfect your green thumb. “Discover how to get new plants from existing plants,” according to the library’s website. “A master gardener will discuss propagation from seeds, cuttings, layering and other methods.” This event is intended for all ages and is free to attend. 

Well Written at Irmo Branch Library
On Thursday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Irmo Branch Library, located at 6251 St Andrews Rd., you can improve your creative writing skills. “Connect and commiserate with other writers, then work on your current project in a quiet, communal space,” according to the library’s website. “All genres and experience levels welcome.” This event is intended for adults and is free to attend.

Historically Speaking with Lexington County Museum
On Friday, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Batesburg-Leesville Library Branch, located at 203 Armory St., you can learn about local revolutionary battles. “Discover Lexington County’s Revolutionary War history, including early conflicts and local battles, with Lexington County Museum,” according to the event listing. This event is intended for adults and is free to attend. 

Celtic Commotion at Icehouse Amphitheater
On Friday at 6 p.m. at the Icehouse Amphitheater in downtown Lexington (107 W. Main St.) is Tartan Day South’s “Celtic Commotion” Concert, an evening of celtic rock and bagpipes. Presented by WCOS FM and The Town of Lexington, gates will open at 6 p.m., Kilmaine Saints will play at 6:30 p.m., a bagpipe demonstration will happen at 7:15 p.m., Syr will perform at 7:30 p.m. and Tuatha Dea will play at 8:45 p.m. Tickets at $10. Friday and Saturday, March 27-28

The Boardr Series at Rawls Creek Park
The Boardr Series is coming to Rawls Creek Park in Irmo, inviting skateboarders of all ages and skill levels to compete in a national contest. The event is on March 27 and 28 at 1113 Friarsgate Blvd. in Irmo. It’s one of 10 stops around the country happening in 2026. According to the event website, pre-registration is required online at TheBoardrSeries.com. A Boardr Series Membership is required for competing, and memberships are $99 a year, and come with one free division entry. Additional divisions are $50. On Friday, March 27, skating with the Boardr Boys and other special guests will begin at 5 p.m. On Saturday, March 28, registration and practice begin at 8 a.m., and the contest will begin at 10 a.m. At that time, the following divisions are scheduled: Women's Street 12 and Under; Women's Street 13 and Up; Men's Street 8 and Under; Men's Street 9 to 12; Men's Street 13 to 16; Men's Street 17 and Up. At 1 p.m., the Street Awards will happen. At 1:30 p.m., the contest continues with Women's Bowl 12 and Under; Women's Bowl 13 and Up; Men's Bowl 12 and Under; Men's Bowl 13 and Up. 12,000 Year History Park tour
On Sunday at 2 p.m., you can tour the 12,000 Year History Park on Congaree Creek in Cayce. “Native Americans Indians called the areas around the Congaree home for thousands of years before European contact and played a vital role in the creation of the Carolina Colony. Learn more with Cultural Anthropologist, Marcy L. Hayden, on a walking tour at the 12,000 Year History Park,” according to a Facebook post on the event. Meet at the entrance to the park just beyond the Cayce Tennis Center. The park is located at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail in Cayce. There is free parking at the dirt lot to the left past the tennis center. Tours are nearly two miles long and will take about two hours. Tours are free and sponsored by the City of Cayce. Easter Egg Hunt in Leesville
On Sunday, March 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Summit Park, located at 307 W. Hampton St. in Leesville, is an Easter egg hunt. Hosted by the Derrick Team, this event will be collecting pet supplies for local animal shelters, so bring any pet supplies you would like to donate. This family-friendly event will have Easter egg hunts by age groups, face paint, games, prizes, treats, animals, a bounce house, vendors and spots to take photos.

Read Freely Fest
The Read Freely Fest is Friday through Sunday at Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly St. in Columbia. “Read Freely Fest is South Carolina’s newest book festival, celebrating stories and ideas with bestselling author talks, panels featuring fresh voices, performances and interactive activities,” according to readfreelyfest.com. “Each spring at Richland Library Main in downtown Columbia, you can meet favorite authors, discover new reads and connect with readers and writers who share inspiring perspectives.” Learn more on the event website. 

Friday, March 27 

Finlay Fridays
On Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Finlay Park, located at 896 Blanding St. in Columbia, is Finlay Friday. “The City of Columbia’s Finlay Park presents Finlay Fridays, a live outdoor concert series happening every Friday evening from February 20 through October 30, 2026,” according to the Capital City Lake Murray event listing. “Open to the public, the series brings live music, food, and drinks to the heart of downtown Columbia — the perfect way to kick off the weekend. Performances take place from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and feature a variety of local and regional artists throughout the season.” March 27 will feature Dem Boyz Good.

Beyond in Lexington County

14th Annual Herb Festival at the Lexington County Museum, April 11
A free event on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lexington County Museum will feature herbs, vegetables, baked goods, educational presentations and local vendors, according to Capital City Lake Murray Country. This rain-or-shine event is made possible by the Lexington County Herb Bunch, and the proceeds from the event will go towards a local student who plans to further their studies in agriculture and horticulture. Sharpvue Irmo International Festival, April 26
The Sharpvue Irmo International Festival will return to Moore Park in Irmo on April 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.. “Hosted in partnership with the Town of Irmo and sponsored by Sharpvue, the festival showcases the global cultures represented across Irmo and the greater Midlands through live performances, international cuisine, artisan vendors, and interactive exhibits,” according to a press release. “Now an annual tradition, the family-friendly event is free and open to the public. Throughout the day, Moore Park transforms into a vibrant global showcase featuring traditional music and dance, authentic dishes, handcrafted goods, and educational booths highlighting the stories and heritage of international communities throughout the region.” Learn more at sharpvueirmointernationalfestival.com.
