FRIDAY, AUG. 15

Kevin Mac (concert)
The “Nashville Nights” concert series rolls on at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St.). The shows are dedicated to rising Nashville young talent, and singer/songwriter Kevin Mac brings a full band for this show. Mac and his band play a mix of country-rock originals with old favorites and classic country tunes. Host Michael Haney kicks things off at 6 p.m. This event is free to attend. Yesterday: A Tribute To The Beatles (concert)
If you’re a Fab Four fan, you’ll want to head over to the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) for Yesterday: A Tribute To The Beatles. Few Beatles tribute acts are endorsed by Sir Paul McCartney and featured in Rolling Stone, and that’s why Yesterday has brought the music of The Beatles to five different continents. Paddle & Pint
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd.) invites you to kick off the weekend with their “Paddle & Pint” night. Enjoy an evening on the scenic Lower Saluda River with a guided paddle, then unwind with a craft beer tasting featuring a selection of local brews. All participants receive a complimentary glass to take home. “Paddle & Pint” is designed for all skill levels, but this event is for ages 21 and up. Play That Band (concert)
Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St.) and popular Columbia group Play That Band invite you to enjoy “A Night of Soul Jazz Grooves.” Expect to hear hits and favorites by Lionel Richie, Tears for Fears, El DeBarge, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder and more. The McKoy Family Band (concert)
The McKoy Family Band returns to the Friday night concert stage at Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor (710 Meeting St.). Once Upon A Mattress (play)
The Chapin Theatre Company (830 Columbia Ave.) presents “Once Upon A Mattress.” This musical comedy is “The Princess and the Pea.” It tells the story of Prince Dauntless and Princess Winnifred. Winnifred’s unconventional nature and disregard for the Queen’s rules lead to a hilarious series of events, including the famous “twenty mattresses” test. Colonial Forts Tour
12,000 Year History Park (1120 Ft. Congaree Tr.) invites you to enjoy a Colonial Forts Tour. Walk to the site of Fort Congaree on a guided hike and learn about its history, delve into the struggles of the Deerskin Economy and then travel forward in time to Fort Granby. Dave Love (concert)

TUESDAY, AUG. 19

Savage Trivia Night 
Savage Craft Ale Works (430 Center St.) hosts their weekly Savage Trivia Night. Unlike other trivia nights, Savage Trivia puts your mental AND physical skills to the test for a chance to win great prizes. Trivia takes place in the Savage Craft Armory, located in the brick building in the beer garden. Bring your friends and enjoy a night of fun games. Storytime In The Parks
Virginia Hylton Park (111 Maiden Ln.) hosts the rotating Storytime In The Parks summer series. The mayors of Irmo, Lexington and Chapin have teamed up this summer to inspire a love of reading among local children by reading stories to them in the park. Purple Martin Cruise
The Spirit of Lake Murray (docked at 216 Shadowood Dr.) takes you around the lake on a Purple Martin tour. Set sail on an unforgettable evening aboard the Spirit of Lake Murray and witness the gathering of thousands of Purple Martins at sunset. This exclusive boat tour offers a front-row seat to one of nature’s most mesmerizing spectacles. The tour runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and food and drinks are available. Tickets are $59. Across the county line

The S.C. State Museum (301 Gervais St.) invites you to their “Summer Nights” series on Friday, Aug. 15. Through the summer season, the museum remains open until 9 p.m., and guests can enjoy the blockbuster exhibition, “Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume,” featuring 70 costumes worn by the likes of Bette Davis, Glenn Close and Angelina Jolie. The Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St.) welcomes singer, songwriter and American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox on Friday, Aug. 15. “Crystal Bowersox brings her unmistakable voice and soul-stirring storytelling to the Newberry Opera House for an intimate evening of music and reflection. Known for her authenticity and emotional depth, Bowersox delivers a live performance that resonates long after the final note.” Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and all tickets are $30. Bring the family to Ridge Spring Town Plaza on W. Main St. on Saturday, Aug. 16, for the Ridge Spring Farmer’s Market. Local farmers gather to offer fresh produce, along with plants perfect for home gardens and landscaping. It’s a great opportunity to connect directly with farmers and learn more about where our food comes from. The market is free to attend and runs from 8 a.m. to noon. If you’re into classic cars and good causes, you’ll want to head over to 1125 George Rogers Blvd. on Saturday, Aug. 16, for the  Project Jasmine Ladies FEST 2025 Car, Truck and Bike Show! It’s a day filled with vintage vehicles, muscle cars and classics. Whether you're a car enthusiast, a truck lover or a bike fanatic, this event has plenty for you. Come out and enjoy the sights and sounds of some of the coolest rides around. This event is a fundraiser for the Jasmine A Gantt Scholarship Fund. It begins at 1 p.m. and tickets admission is $24.
