FRIDAY, NOV. 22

Wild Lights
The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) invites you and the kids to brighten up your Friday night with Wild Lights. From polar bears to flamingos, explore an illuminated wildlife safari featuring more than 60 brand-new, larger-than-life lantern displays inspired by nature. Along the way, discover engaging interactive displays and fun photo opportunities. Wild Lights runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is $20.99 for adults ages 13 and up ($10.99 for members) and $15.99 for children ($7.99 for members). The Millhands (concert)

Friday Night Dinner Cruise
The Spirit of Lake Murray, docked at 216 Shadowood Rd., launches a Friday Night Dinner Cruise. This sunset cruise around Lake Murray will last about two hours. Enjoy open seating, a full bar, and menu items available for purchase. The Spirit of Lake Murray opens for passengers at 5:30 p.m. and departs at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $25 to $30. Holiday Market

Play That Band (concert)

12,000 Year History Park (1120 Ft. Congaree Tr.) takes you back to a turbulent time in our past with a Civil War walking tour. Walk the battlefield and visit the earthworks, and learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia. Sleigh Bell Trot
Saluda Shoals Park (6071 St. Andrews Rd.) rings in the holiday spirit with the Sleigh Bell Trot event. Participants can enjoy running or walking along a route illuminated by thousands of colorful lights. Music Bingo

The City of Newberry invites you to downtown Newberry on Friday, Nov. 22, for “A Very Berry Christmas,” a holiday celebration. In addition to the annual community Christmas tree lighting, this family-friendly event features performances by Newberry school choirs, a message from the mayor, and a countdown to light the town. The Newberry Downtown Development Association also hosts the annual Cookie Walk from 4 to 8 p.m. on Main Street before and after the tree lighting. Colonial Life Arena (801 Lincoln St.) welcomes Jelly Roll, one of modern country music’s biggest stars, on Friday, Nov. 22.
