The new year has ushered in a fresh restaurant in Swansea with different ownership taking over the former Sugarbaker’s Buffet. The Kozy Kitchen just reopened Jan. 7 after a break in December to transition the new owners.
The restaurant, located at 290 S. Monmouth Ave. in the heart of Swansea, will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The restaurant continues to offer buffet items and homestyle cooking familiar to the Sugarbaker’s Buffet crowd. Buffet hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for dinner.
As listed on The Kozy Kitchen’s Facebook page, they announced “new and exciting items to choose from.”
Their menu is listed on the Facebook page and includes buffet items and hours as well as Palmetto Bacon Cheeseburger, Philly cheesesteaks, BBQ sandwiches, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, and meat and sides combos. There is also a kids' menu, an expanded salad bar, and as the new owners take over, other options may pop up.
“We invite you to continue to follow us as we begin this journey, following in the footsteps of Sugarbaker’s founders. We hope to maintain many of the traditions the Brisco family has established and watch for new menu items, a new look and a fresh start,” the new owners said on the restaurant’s page.
The Gordon and Heckard families are the new owners taking over the longstanding restaurant. Additionally, one of the owners will be taking the reins as the new chef.
