THURSDAY NIGHT HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS - Region champions in several sports are crowned

A victory by the Indians would have set up a challenging stretch of having to win 2 straight games Friday at Lexington County Blowfish Stadium to claim the Region 5-3A title.
Instead, the Panthers ended those hopes by rallying for the victory claim the region title.
The loss dropped Gilbert to 3rd place in the region behind Strom Thurmond. They will return to action Saturday to host the 4-day Sandlapper Classic. 

Dutch Fork 10, White Knoll 0 
Bryan Helms had 3 hits and 3 RBIs, including a 2-run homer, and Noah Jackson, Jalen McDuffie and Hugh Ryan all drove in 2 runs for the Silver Foxes.
Rhett Richardson struck out 6 in 5 innings to lead Dutch Fork (14-6, 7-5), which clinched 3rd place in Region 5-5A. 


Lexington 4, River Bluff 3
Landon McMahan and Braison Bourne each had 2 hits and Will Wicker picked up the win for the Wildcats (11-10, 5-6). The rubber match in the 3-game series is set for Friday in The Swamp. 

Airport 8, Dreher 0
Dalton Mims and Cam Beckman both had 2 RBI and Brandon Caughman and Sam LaFrage had 2 hits each for the Eagles at Segra Park. 
Parker Whittle and Ryan Sightler combined for 5 strikeouts in the victory.
Up next for Airport (10-8-1, 5-4) is a home makeup game against Midland Valley. 

SOFTBALL
White Knoll 5, Dutch Fork 0 
The Lady Timberwolves claimed their 3rd consecutive Region 5-5A title and extended their region-winning streak to 31 straight in claiming their 21st overall victory.
Andrea Lyon struck out 9 and allowed just 3 hits. Ashlee Burkett drove in 2 runs and Hannah Goodwin had 2 hits for White Knoll (16-0, 8-0). 
White Knoll closes out the regular season April 22 versus Fort Mill. 


Gilbert 13, Pelion 0 
Savanna Rosson had 11 strikeouts and Amaya Kearse had a 3-run home run to lead the Lady Indians to another Region 5-3A title.

Lexington 13, River Bluff 1
Peri Rouillard batted 4-4 with 3 RBI and Hannah Kumiyama and Allie Light both went 3-4 with 3 RBI as the Lady Wildcats clinched 2nd place in Region 5-5A.
Sarah Gordon and Jaci Fleming both had 2 hits and Allie Light struck out 10 to pick up the win.
Up next for Lexington (12-3, 6-2) is a trip to North Myrtle Beach to face Abbeville in the opening round of the Chiefs Beach Blast Tournament. 

TENNIS 
Lexington 4, Chapin 2
The Wildcats wrapped up a 2nd straight Region 5-5A title and improved to 14-1 overall, 8-0 in region.
