The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is inviting families to Lexington High School for a free Touch-a-Truck event Saturday, Aug. 1.

The hands-on, educational event runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and offers children and parents an up-close look at the vehicles, equipment and specialized tools used by public safety agencies across Lexington County.

Deputies and first responders will be on-site to demonstrate equipment, answer questions and interact with attendees.

"This event gives our community a chance to meet the men and women who serve them and see the tools we use every day to keep Lexington County safe," Sheriff Jay Koon said in a news release. "It is a great, safe morning out for the whole family."

Lexington High School is located at 2463 Augusta Highway. Admission is free and open to the public.
