Lexington Town Councilman Gavin J. Smith is inviting local children to show off their artistic talents in a fun, community contest.

Smith has created the Town of Lexington Coloring Book, with each page featuring a different location around town.

To enter the contest, print and color any page from the book, then take a photo with the artwork. A parent or guardian can post it in the comments of his Facebook post about the coloring book, or email the photo to gsmith@lexsc.gov.

Pine Press Printing of Lexington has donated the hard copies, and Smith said in the Facebook post that he should have more hard copies to give out soon, but any one can download the coloring book online here (if you're reading this story in print, visit the online version of this story to get the link for a hard copy).

“I’ve loved running into so many of you in the streets, receiving emails and messages with photos of the completed pages, and hearing from y’all about how much fun our Town’s little ones are having with this,” Smith said in a Facebook post.

Every child who participates will be entered to win a $25 Big Air gift card. Four random winners will be announced on Friday, Aug. 8.
