Town of Lexington finalizes 2025-26 budget

The county is nearing its final draft, which is expected to not include a property tax increase

Lexington Town Council finalized its 2025-26 budget during the June 2 meeting. The full budget is available for the public to view online, but here are some highlights: 

  • Revenues total $18,194,013 for the 2025-26 budget, a $1,234,513 increase from 2024-25
  • Those revenues for 2025-26 include $4,700,000 from property taxes, a $300,000 increase from 2024-25
  • Those revenues for 2025-26 also include $8,463,380 from business licenses, a $363,380 increase from 2024-25
  • Expenditures total $17,963,665 for the 2025-26 budget, a $1,459,602 increase from 2024-25
  • Those expenditures for 2025-26 include $8,354,441 spent on the police department, a $548,611 increase from the money spent on the police department in the 2024-25 budget 

Lexington County Council is nearing the final stage of its budget process, and council expects the finalized budget to not include any millage or property tax increase.
