Hands-On History at Lexington County Museum
Every Thursday in June at 10 a.m. is an educational event in Lexington County for children ages 4 to 12. The Lexington County Museum’s Hands-On History event is a free event and “a great way for kids to learn about history while having fun,” according to the event listing. Registration is required. To register, email Beth Haggard at bhaggard@lexingtoncounty.sc.gov or call her at 803-359-8369. The event takes place at the Lexington County Museum Complex, located at 231 Fox St. in Lexington.
Rhythm on the River Summer Concert Series

The Art of Unwinding at Mungo Park
A stress reducing event will take place on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Meech House at Mungo Park, located at 2121 Lake Murray Blvd. in Columbia. “The Art of Unwinding is a science-backed yoga and breathwork series designed to reduce stress and improve sleep. Slow, intentional movement and guided breathing help calm the nervous system, lower tension and shift the body into recovery mode,” according to the event listing from the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission. “You'll learn practical tools to quiet the mind, release stored stress, support digestion and prepare the body for deeper, more restorative rest. 6th Annual Irmo Juneteenth Celebration
The 6th Annual Irmo Juneteenth Celebration will take place at Moore Park, located at 7473 Church St. in Irmo, from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday. The family-friendly event is hosted by the African American Historical Society of Irmo. “While Juneteenth recognizes the national significance of freedom, Irmo’s celebration offers a unique twist by deeply rooting itself in local heritage. This year's event will specifically spotlight the local historians, trailblazers, and community leaders who have shaped the culture and legacy of Irmo, the state of South Carolina, and the nation,” according to a press release. There will be a pop-up Irmo History Museum and live entertainment from Tia DuRant, who is known as "The Princess of Soul" and is former contestant on NBC’s The Voice. Lexington Murders and Mysteries Walking Tour
From 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday is the Lexington Murders and Mysteries Walking Tour event at Lexington’s Icehouse Amphitheater, located at 107 West Main St. in downtown Lexington. This free event is put on by the Lexington County Museum. “This tour is a great way to learn about the history of the town and hear some very interesting stories along the way,” according to the event listing. “Attendees will learn about some of the murders, trials, and other crimes that occurred on Lexington’s Main Street in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This free tour will begin at the town’s Icehouse Amphitheater and will last just over an hour. Attendees will follow a guide between Church Street and South Lake Drive. Because of the mature subject matter, attendees must be 18 or over or have parental permission. This event is offered at no cost and no reservations are needed. Market at Icehouse
Market at Icehouse Amphitheater in downtown Lexington is on Saturday. Located at 107 W. Main St. in downtown Lexington, the market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May 16 through Sept. 26, excluding July 4. “The Market at Icehouse is primarily intended as a farmer/grower and local artisan market, utilizing a community-friendly atmosphere to promote, support and encourage local production while educating residents on the benefits of eating fresh produce and supporting local artists and the Certified SC program,” according to a statement on the town’s website.
