Hands-On History at Lexington County Museum
Every Thursday in June at 10 a.m. is an educational event in Lexington County for children ages 4 to 12. The Lexington County Museum’s Hands-On History event is a free event and “a great way for kids to learn about history while having fun,” according to the event listing. Registration is required. To register, email Beth Haggard at bhaggard@lexingtoncounty.sc.gov or call her at 803-359-8369. The event takes place at the Lexington County Museum Complex, located at 231 Fox St. in Lexington.
Revolutionary War lecture series
As America marks 250 years of independence this year, Lexington County locals have the chance to celebrate with learning, thanks to a series hosted by the Lexington County Museum. "The Friends of the Lexington County Museum are pleased to announce the first Summer Speaker Series," according to the museum website. "In June, July, and August, the Friends will have three historians speak about different topics related to the American Revolution." The first event in the series is coming up on Thursday, June 25. That day, Lexington County Museum director J.R. Fennell will give a presentation on Lexington County in the American Revolution. Each event in the series will take place at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex, located at 111 Maiden Ln. in Lexington, at 6:30 p.m. Each event will begin with wine and cheese, and the lectures will begin half an hour later at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per lecture or $100 to attend all three. Lexington County Blowfish play at home

Market at Icehouse
Market at Icehouse Amphitheater in downtown Lexington is on Saturday. Located at 107 W. Main St. in downtown Lexington, the market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May 16 through Sept. 26, excluding July 4. “The Market at Icehouse is primarily intended as a farmer/grower and local artisan market, utilizing a community-friendly atmosphere to promote, support and encourage local production while educating residents on the benefits of eating fresh produce and supporting local artists and the Certified SC program,” according to a statement on the town’s website.

Steel Hands Brewing Car Show
On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) is a car show. Registration is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there is a $20 entry fee. Register on site. “Welcome ALL makes and models! No trailer parking, please,” according to the event listing. “Parking will be first-come, first-served in our Main Parking Lot.” There will be awards, live music and more. This is a family-friendly event.
12,000 Year History Park tour
On Sunday at 2 p.m., you can tour the 12,000 Year History Park on Congaree Creek in Cayce. “Tour the Congaree Creek Civil War battlefield! Sherman's army will have 45 firefights with Confederate forces between January 1, 1865 and the capture of Columbia on February 17. The battle at Congaree Creek will be among the 3 largest battles involving Sherman's forces during this time frame. Join us as we walk the battlefield and visit the earthworks, learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia,” according to a Facebook post on the event. Meet at the entrance to the park just beyond the Cayce Tennis Center. The park is located at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail in Cayce. There is free parking at the dirt lot to the left past the tennis center. Tours are nearly two miles long and will take about two hours. Tours are free and sponsored by the City of Cayce. Finlay Fridays
On Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Finlay Park, located at 896 Blanding St. in Columbia, is Finlay Friday. “The City of Columbia’s Finlay Park presents Finlay Fridays, a live outdoor concert series happening every Friday evening from February 20 through October 30, 2026,” according to the Capital City Lake Murray event listing. “Open to the public, the series brings live music, food, and drinks to the heart of downtown Columbia — the perfect way to kick off the weekend. Performances take place from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and feature a variety of local and regional artists throughout the season.” June 26 will feature Death Ray Robin.

250th Independence Day Celebration in Lexington, July 3
Lexington’s Icehouse Amphitheater in downtown will host a 250th Independence Day celebration featuring the Lexington Community Band and more the day before the Fourth of July. Food, drinks, games and more will be available starting at 6 p.m. The band will perform at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 9:20 p.m.
Lexington County Peach Festival, July 4
The Lexington County Peach Festival is on July 4 at Gilbert Community Park in Gilbert. This is an all-day event featuring a parade, live music, fireworks and more. The Peach Parade is at 9:30 a.m.; it begins at Hampton Street, goes down Main Street then ends near Gilbert Middle School. Roads will close at 9 a.m. in preparation, and the parade is expected to last about an hour. Live music will be played from noon until 9 p.m. the firework finale will begin at 9:15 p.m. The fireworks are expected to be visible from the open fields at Gilbert Community Park, Gilbert Middle School and Gilbert Elementary School. The Lexington County Peach Festival is free to attend.
Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration 2026, July 4
The best place to view fireworks from is a boat, according to Capital City/Lake Murray Country, the host of Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration on July 4. The event will feature two firework shows from 9:30 to 10 p.m., one from Spence Island and one from Dreher Island on Lake Murray. “Spectators are encouraged to experience the fireworks by boat for the full Lake Murray experience, but several land-based viewing opportunities will also be available,” according to the event listing. Land spots to watch from include Dreher Island State Park, Pine Island State Park and Lake Murray Public Park on the Irmo or Lexington sides. You can book parking in advance. “The fireworks display will once again be synchronized to a patriotic concert airing live on 93.1 The Lake through Midlands Media Group,” according to the event listing. “Attendees are encouraged to listen through a traditional FM radio, as online streaming may experience delays that could impact synchronization with the fireworks show.”
