As is routine, all law enforcement agencies in the county have mutual aid agreements that help in responses where the aid of other agencies is needed.

The Chronicle reached out to all agencies in the county to get a list of who they have agreements with, to give you a better idea of who might show up, depending on the severity of your emergency.

“Mutual aid agreements may authorize mutual aid between two or more neighboring communities, among all jurisdictions within a state, between states, between federal agencies, and/or internationally,” the Federal Emergency Management Agency website states.

Pine Ridge, Gaston and Springdale Police Departments didn’t respond to the Chronicle’s request for info on their mutual aid agreements. Based on other department’s answers, the Chronicle was able to determine that all three have a mutual aid agreement with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, Lexington Police Department, Irmo Police Department, Pelion Police Department and Swansea Police Department.

Springdale and Pine Ridge also have an agreement with West Columbia’s Police Department, while Springdale and Gaston have agreements with the Cayce Police Department.
