Friday — July 7

Chris Canterbury (concert)
The Nashville Nights concert series rolls on at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) with a performance by Chris Canterbury. The Louisiana singer/songwriter is also a talented multi-instrumentalist who has shared the stage with Charlie Robison, T-Model Ford, Jimbo Mathus, Cody Canada, and Chris Knight. Purple Martin Tour
If you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy the Purple Martin Tour at Jake’s Landing (220 Jake’s Landing Rd.). This intimate, six-person cruise will allow you to see thousands of purple martins up close and enjoy an evening on Lake Murray. The cruise runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and tickets are $50 each. Saturday — July 8

The Market at Icehouse
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts its weekly summer market. This artisan and farmers market uses a community-friendly atmosphere to promote, support and encourage local production, while educating citizens on the benefits of eating local, fresh produce and supporting local artists. Taste of the South
The historic Historic Columbia Speedway (2001 Charleston Hwy. in Cayce) hosts the Taste of the South. In addition to a variety of food trucks and first-rate dining, the food festival will feature live music from Sir Charles Jones, Nellie “Tiger” Travis, Nelson Curry & the Klass Band, The Manhattans, Lebrado, Tucka, Pokey Bear, Jeter Jones and Ronnie Bell. The musical performances begin at 4 p.m., and the festival as a whole kicks off at 1 p.m. Admission costs between $69 and $150.

Problem Child (concert)
If you’re a big AC/DC fan, you’ll want to head over to Bubba’s Pub-N-Grub (2544 S Lake Dr.) for a performance by Problem Child. The group is a highly regarded AC/DC tribute band that’s sure to play classics like “Back In Black,” “Whole Lotta Rosie,” “You Shook Me All Night Long” and many more. Miss Pure Sparkle Experience
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) presents the Miss Pure Sparkle Experience. Cody Webb (concert)
The Skyline Club (100 Lee St.) hosts a day-long benefit for veterans in conjunction with the After the Uniform organization. Country singer-songwriter Cody Webb headlines the show, but there will also be raffles, a silent auction, door prizes and much more. Tuesday — July 11

Toucan Tuesday
The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) gives you and your family a fun night for a good cause with their weekly Toucan Tuesday summer series. Guests visiting the zoo will receive buy-one get-one admission to the park and buy-one get-one Icees with a donation of two non-perishable food items for Harvest Hope Food Bank. Lonesome River Band (concert)

Gravel (concert)
The Colorado Springs hard rock band Gravel performs at New Brookland Tavern (122 State St. in West Columbia). The band is joined for this show by fellow hard rockers the Texas Hippie Coalition and Bullet to the Heart. Showtime is 6 p.m., and tickets are $22.50 in advance and $27 at the door. Jurassic Quest
Grab the kids and head over to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center (1101 Lincoln St.) on July 7 for Jurassic Quest, the largest and most realistic dinosaur exhibit on tour. There will be walking dinosaur rides, fossils, T-Rex skull replicas, baby dinosaurs and much more. Jurassic Quest will run from noon until 8pm, and admission costs between $19 and $36. “Little Shop of Horrors” (musical)
The Trustus Theatre (520 Lady St. in Columbia) presents a performance of the classic musical comedy “Little Shop Of Horrors” on July 7. Enjoy the campy, scary story of meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” in honor of his co-worker crush. Accessibility Morning
The State Museum (301 Gervais St. in Columbia) hosts their monthly Accessibility Morning program on July 8. This program allows children, teenagers and adults who are neurodiverse, autistic or have other disabilities to experience the museum’s exhibitions at their own pace and enjoy other special activities such as book character readings with ASL interpretation and sensory-friendly 4D and planetarium shows.
