UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA FOOTBALL - Former Pelion High standout Justin Stepp to coach Gamecock wide receivers

The new University of South Carolina football coaching staff of Shane Beamers appears ready to add another Chronicle Country product.
Justin Stepp, who along with twin brother and Georgia State assistant coach Josh, led Pelion High School to its 1st region title, reportedly accepted a position as the Gamecocks' new wide receivers coach.
Stepp, 37, was the lone holdover for Coach Sam Pittman’s first staff with the Razorbacks after coming to Arkansas with Coach Chad Morris in 2018. A Columbia native and Furman University graduate, where he earned All-Southern Conference honors twice, he spent 3 seasons at Arkansas.
Stepp was the lead recruiter on receiver Ketron Jackson and assisted with Scott Fountain on athlete Raheim Sanders, two of the highest-rated prospects from Arkansas’ December signees. He also recruited wideouts Bryce Stephens and Jaedon Wilson and had a hand in landing defensive tackle Marcus Miller.
Stepp has spent 10 seasons as a wide receivers coach at 4 different schools - North Greenville, Appalachian State, Southern Methodist and Arkansas. He's expected to be the 4th of 8 new coaches on Beamer's staff, joining Dutch Fork graduate and former Hammond School head coach Erik Kimrey, who will coach the tight ends.
Beamer retained 4 head coaches from the previous coaching staff - Mike Bobo (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks), Des Kitchings (running backs), Tracy Rocker (defensive line) and Mike Peterson (outside linebackers). Former quarterback Connor Shaw is expected to return in an off-the-field role.
The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees are expected to approve the new hires contracts during a Monday Zoom meeting.
