Lexington County Blowfish introduce 2020 marketing campaign

The Lexington County Blowfish held Wednesday their annual World Series Luncheon inside the Stadium Club at Lexington County Baseball Stadium in front of yet another packed house.
The yearly luncheon was held on the same day as Game 2 of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros.
Baseball Is Back- Summer Olympics 2020
Each year, the Lexington County Blowfish creatively find the right theme for the upcoming year. After a very successful Lexington County Fair theme, which honored the 150th anniversary of the S.C. State Fair, the Blowfish looked at a number of events happening in 2020.
“There was one that simply stood out from the rest,” Blowfish co-owner Bill Shanahan stated. “And that is that baseball is back in the Summer Olympics in 2020.”
Baseball returns to the Olympics July 24-Aug. 9 emanating from Tokyo, Japan. Baseball was removed from the Olympics after the 2008 games, but makes its triumphant return this summer.
“We want to honor the game of baseball in 2020 by wearing special themed patriotic jerseys,” Shanahan announced. “We are ‘Red, White, and Blowfish’ in 2020! Team Blowfish feels it’s important to unite all fish across the nation, including trout, salmon, and tuna, to support baseball in the Summer Olympics.”
The rendering of the 2020 patriotic themed jersey was unveiled at the luncheon.

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
The Lexington County Blowfish also announced the first player signed for the 2020 season.
“In honor of our 2020 patriotic theme, I am proud to announce our first player signed to the 2020 roster is from the U.S. Army,” general manager Theo Bacot stated. “Cadet Bennett Smith of West Point will be joining us this summer as the first ever Army baseball player to be a Blowfish. And we believe he is someone that exemplifies the American spirit and someone who fans will enjoy watching play the game of baseball the right way,” Bacot said.
2020 Schedule
The Blowfish also released their 2020 schedule which features 28 home games. Following the annual Blowfish alumni game on May 25, Lexington County opens the Coastal Plain League Season May 28 against with the Gastonia Grizzlies.
Other schedule highlights include 13 games in the I-20 Rivalry Series against the Florence Redwolves and 2 home games on Independence Day weekend (July 3-4) against the Macon Bacon and Savannah Bananas.

The Lexington County Blowfish are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League. The Coastal Plain League is the nation's premier summer collegiate baseball league. Heading into its 23rd season in 2019, the CPL features 15 franchises playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
