Over 100 youngsters flocked to “The Swamp” this past Saturday to receive football lessons from a University of South Carolina quarterback legend.

Former Gamecock Connor Shaw held his sports camp at River Bluff High School. The school’s winningest quarterback with 27 victories from 2010-13, Shaw and fellow former Gamecocks like Michael Scarnecchia and Dustin Riddle worked on passing and running drills with the participants for 3 hours at the schools thanks in part to a partnership with Colonial Life, Lexington Medical Center, Molina Heathcare and Children’s Trust.

The sponsors also helped to provide free attendance for children who completed Children’s Trust’s 14-week Strengthening Families Program.

“This is something we look forward to every year,” Shaw said. “We’ve got great coaches and great men out here these kids can learn from.”

Campers also received a T-shirt, wrist bands, towel, mini football and 5×7 autographed photo of Shaw. This was the 2nd of 3 Shaw Camps scheduled this summer, the final one taking place July 20 at Porter-Gaud High School in Charleston.

Registration is now available at www.ShawCamps.com.
