With the football regular season coming to a close and the volleyball season in the middle of the playoffs, this week’s athletes of the week played their best during the most pivotal points of the season. Voting for Athlete of the Week runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week.
Chapin kicker Chase Cline was voted male athlete of the week after his game winning 49-yard field goal in the final seconds helped pull off the win against River Bluff.
The win not only gave the Eagles their first win in the region, but guaranteed their spot in the 5A playoffs. The game winner wasn’t the only contribution for Cline as he knocked through another kick during the game to make him 2/2 on the afternoon.
Lexington volleyball’s Jasia Brunson led the team with 10 kills during their second round playoff win over Summerville to help push them into the 5A state quarterfinals.
Brunson also finished the season ranking second on the team in kills per set.
