Chapin Gets New Council Member After Special Election

Posted

An empty seat on Chapin Town Council has been filled following a Sept. 13 special election.

Vicky Shealy won the election, which featured write-in campaigns but no candidates who filed in time to be included on the ballot. Shealy will fill the chair of former councilwoman Kay Hollis who retired in June.

According to unofficial election results shared with the Chronicle, Shealy tallied 38 write-in votes, while Sam Bolton got 17 and Dan Lambert got 14. One voter wrote in “Kay Shealy” while one just wrote “Shealy”; these votes didn’t count toward Vicky Shealy’s total.

The Chronicle’s efforts to reach Shealy after the election weren’t immediately successful.
