It was a quiet week in Lexington County as many basketball and wrestling teams took some time off to rest ahead of the final few weeks of the winter sports season. 

Friday night was full of hoops action, though, providing fans around the county plenty of spectacles to enjoy. 

This week’s Athlete of the Week winners both come from Gray Collegiate and put on a show as they led their teams to victory.

Levi Ball

Gray Collegiate star Levi Ball has been an offensive juggernaut this season. 

The War Eagles are in firm control of first place in the region, thanks in part to Ball’s play this season. Gray is in control of their own destiny, and with a guy like Ball leading the charge, things are looking bright. 

Gray picked up two region wins last week, beating reigning champions North Augusta for the second time this season, before hosting cross-county rival Brookland-Cayce and winning. 

Ball finished with 19 points against North Augusta and hit clutch shots down the stretch. In the blowout win over Brookland-Cayce, he scored 24 points. 

Aneya Britt

Gray’s Aneya Britt has been a consistent threat all year for the War Eagles. 

The junior is averaging a double-double this season with 19 points and 11 rebounds per game. She also averages almost two steals per contest. 

Gray began this week in sole possession of second place in the region, behind only North Augusta. The War Eagles split their two games last week, losing to North Augusta before beating Brookland-Cayce. 

In the win over the Bearcats, Britt scored 22 points and added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.
